One of the Things I love the Most About Writing (1)
This one I expect the revisit. Ergo, the “(1)”.
It gets easier.
Now this was a major journey of discovery for me. I have talked about my background as a trained engineer (with over 2 decades in the bank). Writing was such a strange thing to venture into. In engineering, there are definite answers. A simple ending. In writing, the answer can be vague or even open-ended. It took a while to not try to explain everything in detail (I will expand the idea later). To say less… while speaking volumes.
But I soon learned that my writing got better. Which also had the downside of some dissatisfaction. Because if you review your writing 2 or 3 years from now (especially if you write consistently), you will realize there is a change in your tone, your pacing, your ability to express yourself. Definitely for the better.
As an example, there were passages in my book that I reviewed recently. I remember how much those same words and sections thrilled me. At my final review, they just seemed so… meh.
But yes, writing they say is like a muscle. You exercise it and it gets stronger, firmer.
So write. Don’t give up.
